Thimsy | I draw pretty things...

My name is Katherine Perry and Thimsy is my art persona. I've been an art hermit since 2000 and 2018 was my first year out into the world as a "legitimate" artist. I have 3 degrees in art and art history and have worked all types of jobs from a waitress all the way up to a product development designer. The main reason why I finally took a chance on myself and my art boils down to developing fibromyalgia a few years ago.

For those who don't know what fibro is; it's a very debilitating chronic illness that messes with your immune system and nervous system. It's characterized by constant chronic pain, and severe fatigue as well as brain fog. It makes it nearly impossible to work a regular job, even with medicaiton.

Essentially, I was backed into a corner - I couldn't hold down a regular job, had a hard time finding anything remote that I would be good at, but I had a skill...one I'd never used for gain before. I'd always done artwork as an emotional and mental escape, and only ever shared it with my best friend Samantha Vargas, my mom, husband and a few select others.

But I have some talent, so I figured I had nothing left to loose in giving this whole artist thing an honest go. I started out with a coloring book for grown ups and continued persuing my desire to create. Almost a year later and not only have I self published a coloring book and started on another, but I've worked numerous events, painted murals on the walls of Eleven Lakes Brewing's taproom, was commissioned to do two book covers for novelist James Maxey, and had two successful enamel pin kickstarter projects: The Celestial Dance and Smol Bat.

This is just the beginning, and if 2018 has showed me anything, is that if you give something an honest try, you can surprise yourself with the results! So follow your passions and dreams, see where they take you in this life!
